They sent me home early today which was shocking, because I thought I could remember worse storms. Apparently not.

Dear goodness I’m over winter

It’s alarming how many times I’ve stood over a Japanese toilet with no idea how to flush it (Taken with instagram)

In Japan and some other parts of Asia the women give the men chocolate on Valentine’s day. The men must then give any woman that gave him chocolate on February 14th, white sweets on March 14th (White day). And in some parts of China anyone not receiving anything on either day must go and eat Black noodles in a Chinese restaurant on April 14th (Black day) to mourn their single lifestyle.

Hadaka ni narimashou! (Let’s get naked!)
During Kounomiya Hadaka Matsuri thousands of barely clothed men line the streets of Inazawa City, Aichi, Japan, in the hope of touching a completely shaved and totally naked man (or Shin-otokoa) as he passes through the city streets on his way to the Kounomiya Shrine. Shinto tradition believes that the Shin-otokoa absorbs all bad luck and evil deeds from the men who touch him.

Pre vacation blues

You know that feeling right before vacation when work becomes really insufferable. Your mind has already boarded your plane, train or automobile and left the office and you’re just wondering why everyone isn’t respecting how vacant you really are to the mundane things happening around you. Everything has been downgraded in importance to things I’ll pretend to care about…after vacation.

The pre vacation mindset is a dark and scary place to be and the light at the end of this tunnel is freedom, as short as it might be. I am dead center in the middle of pre vacation blues.

So let’s pray the pre vacation prayer.

Dear God,
Please let me make it through without going on revolt. Don’t let me say anything crazy when people ask me to do my job, and really don’t start drinking tropical cocktails at lunch to get through the rest of the day.
Amen
